Construction Works of 74 Riyadh Metro Stations Continue

‏

Construction Works of King Abdulaziz Project for Riyadh Public Transport (Metro & Buses) witnessed significant progress in a race against time to keep up with the project’s schedule and meet expectations of the city residents.

The construction works accelerate in 74 stations out of the project’s 85 stations, especially in the following locations:

  • The 4 main metro stations (Qasr Al-Hukm District Station, Al-Olaya Station, King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) Station, and Western Station)
  • The metro station of the fifth terminal at King Khaled International Airport
  • Five transfer stations
  • Underground stations on the Green, Blue and Orange lines
  • Surface stations on the Red, Yellow, and Purple lines

The multi-level design of Riyadh Metro stations utilized the industry’s best standards. All stations are air conditioned, and equipped with all the necessary means to ensure comforts and safety for passengers. The stations also have travel information systems, in addition to stores and car parks in some key stations.

The four main stations are among the project’s key attractions, as they are located in areas of high population density and at the intersection of train and bus routes, in addition to providing a variety of relevant supporting services including:

  • Public parking
  • Ticket outlets
  • Shops and commercial services
  • Restaurants and cafes
  • Investment locations
  • Customer service offices

These stations are expected to improve the metropolitan urban environment, as they are being constructed using sustainable materials that take into consideration the future operational and maintenance requirements.
