ADA unveils the Contemporary Art Center in Historical ‎Addiriyah ‎

‏

The High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh unveiled its latest urban heritage project, the “Contemporary Art Center», as part of Historical Addiriyah Development Program, during its participation in the 2nd Heritage and Arts Forum, organized by the Saudi Heritage Preservation Society at King Fahad Cultural Center in Riyadh from 17 to 21 April 2016.

ADA’s pavilion at the Forum showcased a model of the Centre demonstrating its design that creatively blends with its vicinity, and the traditional architectural pattern of Historical Addiriyah, creating harmony between the project and the surrounding environment, buildings, streets and farms.

Inspired by values and originality of Historical Addiriyah, the Center’s headquarters was designed to give the effect of artistic sculpturing and ensure harmony with the traditional architectural style, in addition to the spaces added to the project for future expansions.

Located in Hai Al-Bujairi, the Center includes galleries, lecture halls of various sizes, administrative offices and other service elements. The Center’s design mixes modernity and the local urban identity, and blends with the natural environment of Wadi Hanifah and Historical Addiriyah.

ADA’s pavilion also showcased a detailed historical map of Riyadh city, inspired by the map by Hajji Abdullah Philby that documented an important period of the history of the city during the reign of the founding King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman.

The pavilion also shed light on ADA’s urban heritage programs and projects in the city of Riyadh, including Qasr Al-Hukm District Development Program, Diplomatic Quarter Development Program, King Abdulaziz Historical Center, and Historical Addiriyah Development Program.
