HE Mr. Fahd Bin Abdulmohsen Bin Saleh Al-Rasheed, CEO of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), participated in the annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, between 21-24 January 2020 as part of a high-level delegation representing the KSA.

In his public session at Davos, HE Al-Rasheed underlined the role of the Kingdom in addressing climate change in line with the Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. He also highlighted the Kingdom’s achievements towards tackling climate change, saying: “We are proud of the Kingdom’s achievements and efforts in this regard that qualified the country to be ranked by the International Energy Agency as the fourth-fastest country in emissions cuts among the G20 group of countries last year.”

For Riyadh, he noted that addressing the climate change challenge is a priority, adding: “Under the Green Riyadh initiative, the city plans to plant one tree for every one of its citizens – meaning over 7.5 million trees will be planted.” He also pointed out that the city of Riyadh will invest more than $70 billion over the next decade in sustainable projects.

In closing, HE Mr. Fahd Al-Rasheed called for a global cooperation to address the climate change, stressing that the Kingdom currently instills a culture of sustainability in the younger generation.
