Riyadh Development Authority Showcases its Leading Traffic Management Experience ‎

‏

The Riyadh Development Authority (RDA) has participated with an interactive pavilion at the exhibition accompanying the 2019 Traffic Safety Conference, organized by the General Department of Traffic (GDT) under the patronage of HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef, Minister of Interior, from 11 to 13 March 2019 in Riyadh.

The pavilion highlights the RDA’s traffic management program, which aims to improve the metropolitan traffic flow and solve the issues that cause traffic congestion using cutting-edge traffic management solutions.

The pavilion also showcases RDA’s Advanced Traffic Control Project, which is built on the world-class central traffic control system, TransSuite, that directly receives traffic data from the traffic cameras and signal controllers deployed across the city of Riyadh. Then, the system analyzes such data instantly and adjusts the timing of traffic signals to optimize the traffic flow and ensure overall synchronization.

This system helped better use the traffic signals timing in traffic management, reducing waiting times. The results showed improved traffic flow and better journey times on several main axes, such as Al Takhassusi Road, where journey time dropped by 28%.

Moreover, the pavilion showcases the King Abdulaziz Project for Public ‎Transport ‎in Riyadh (Metro and Buses), which is expected to contribute significantly to reducing the use of private cars.
